ABOUT ENCORE
Rescue * Spay/Neuter * Educate
Encore Pets, Inc., of Morehead City, NC, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all-volunteer organization seeking to save the lives of animals by maintaining a foster/adoption program for homeless pets, offering low-cost spay/neuter services to those in need, and educating the public on animal-related issues through our monthly pet newsletter. We are dedicated to the ideal of animal rescue groups working together for the benefit of both the animals and the community.
Volunteers with Encore Pets rescue dogs and cats who are stray or are in crowded animal shelters facing euthanasia. Since our inception in May 2007, Encore Pets has rescued and re-homed over 350 dogs and cats. Many of the pets rescued are special needs- undernourished, older, Heartworm-positive, with mange, etc. Encore Pets provides foster pets with food, supplies and all necessary veterinary care, including: spay/neuter, vaccinations, preventatives, and other medical needs, such as heartworm treatment, dental work, etc.
Since 2007, Encore Pets has sponsored fourteen low-cost spay/neuter clinics in conjunction with POP-NC (Pet Overpopulation Patrol-NC). Through these clinics, 1,297 cats and dogs have been sterilized. Encore has been approved for the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Project mentorship program and will be opening our own new mobile spay/neuter clinic based in Carteret County in 2012.
Encore Pets has produced a monthly pet newsletter since May 2007. Through this medium, we reach thousands of people a month. We are able to educate the public about animal-related topics and spay/neuter opportunities, display adoptable dogs and cats from local shelters and rescue groups at no cost to them, and provide information on pet-related community events. We depend on business sponsors to help defray our cost for the pet newsletter.
