All of our rescued animals are thoroughly vetted: up to date on vaccines, neutered or spayed (if old enough), on preventatives, and more. Our dog adoption fee is $125, our cat adoption fee is $75.
Our adoptable dogs are in foster homes where they get love and care most have not had before. Happy to have a home and lots of love, they flourish in our foster homes. They are usually eager to learn house-training and basic manners, if needed. Our fosters strive to make them into great pets, ready for adoption. Most adopters are happy to know about the dog’s personality before adopting: how do they get along with other dogs? cats? children? What is the daily routine for the pet? We hold Adopt-a-Thons at the Morehead City PetSmart (on Hwy. 70) at least twice a month where we try to have all or most of our available dogs and cats for you to meet. We are happy to make arrangements to meet at another time if needed.
Our adoptable cats are in foster homes for a short period, and then usually go to the Morehead City PetSmart Adoption Center (on Hwy. 70). Here you can view the cats and kittens, interact with them, or just spend time loving on them. PetSmart is open from 9 am to 9 pm most days, so you can meet our cats when convenient for you. Our cats at PetSmart’s Adoption Center are healthy, happy, and ready for homes. We have wonderful volunteers who ensure they are well-cared-for while there by checking in on them at least once a day. The PetSmart employees do back-up care for our cats as needed.
The adoption process for dogs and cats is:
- You fill out our dog application or cat application online, or in person at PetSmart or during a public event.
- We check your veterinary and landlord references (if applicable).
- We schedule a home visit with you and your family.
- We set up a meet-and-greet with the pet.
- You adopt a new family member (if approved!)
